First Place for Families
This website is one of the major projects of the First Place for Families initiative. Each month the website will feature an article focused on parenting, child development or children’s mental health. Many of the articles will be written by local mental health professionals who have particular expertise in early childhood issues. Articles will be archived and available through the archive links. For quick reference, our site features a section titled “Issues and Concerns of Young Children” where information on a wide array disorders or problems in early childhood is available.
A comprehensive list of links to local, regional and national websites that provide information on all areas of child development, parenting, support services and mental health is another important feature of this website. Finally, a calendar lists events for families as well as parent and professional training opportunities in the area. Norwood Public Schools has been working collaboratively with grants from Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (#237) and the Title I grant (#305) to bring workshops to parents on various aspects of raising children and provide additional resources and information.
